Ishmael / Ismail / Yishmael
The firstborn son of Abraham and Hagar, blessed to become the father of twelve princes and a great nation. In Islamic tradition, Ismail holds a position of special importance as the ancestor of the Arab people and the Prophet Muhammad, and as the son whom Ibrahim brought to Mecca, where together they built the Kaaba. Judaism and Christianity affirm the divine blessing on Ishmael while focusing the covenant line on Isaac.
